Arguably the most unconventional class at Virginia State University, a Historically Black College and University (HHCU) located twenty miles south of Richmond, thirty students in Career Launch learn by doing. Lisa Byrd representing Zenetex along with ten other companies on August 22nd facilitated hands-on small group role-play exercises for undergraduates. Consisting of elevator speeches, the hour long session accommodated the program’s aims to refine "soft skills", augment career awareness, and develop "real world" skills not often learned in a traditional classroom!
Lisa Byrd played an instrumental role in improving the students’ capacity to interrelate with other professionals and in doing it found a lot of reward. She remarked how it was rewarding to give back and to contribute to the students professional development.
